Amaia Calderón Larrañaga

Associate Professor at the Aging Research Center (Karolinska Institutet, Sweden). I have a background in pharmacy and public health and around ten years of experience in multimorbidity, chronic diseases and aging research. My research activity focuses on studying health in older age shifting from the traditional focus on single diseases towards multidimensional and longitudinal health trajectories. I am particularly interested in studying the biological, care-related and psychosocial determinants of such trajectories, as well as the interaction of these health pathways with the use of medical and social care services. I am the research group leader of a multidisciplinary team with backgrounds in medicine, pharmacy, and public health, and vice-Principal Investigator of the population-based Swedish National study on Aging and Care in Kungsholmen (https://www.snac-k.se/). My research is funded by several grants from the Swedish Research Council, the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare, and other funding bodies in national competition. Over the last years, I have taught either as main or assistant instructor in courses on the epidemiology of aging across undergraduate, master and doctoral levels. I have published a total of 115 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and I am co-author of three book chapters; H-index of 29; and a total number of 2,729 citations (according to Web of Science on 04/09/2022).
