GIAPCyL

The Castilla y León research group (RD24/0005/0018: GIAPCyL) is made up of researchers from the provinces of Salamanca and Valladolid and is coordinated by Dr. Luis García Ortiz. This group centralises its activity in the Primary Care Research Unit of Salamanca (APISAL), which is linked to the Institute of Biomedical Research of Salamanca (IBSAL). It is a multidisciplinary group, its members are mainly family doctors, nurses, psychologists and methodologists, and it carries out its activity in collaboration with other research groups. Since its foundation it has more than 170 projects, 450 publications and 13 intellectual property registrations (website: http://apisal.es).

Lines of work

  • Health promotion and healthy lifestyles in Primary Care, including physical activity, nutrition, addiction prevention, and the development of community-based and digital interventions to improve population health.
  • Vascular ageing, cardiovascular risk and vascular health, including the study of arterial structure and function, arterial stiffness, microcirculation, and the biological and behavioural determinants of vascular ageing.
  • Chronicity, multimorbidity and Primary Care models focused on improving health outcomes, continuity of care, patient safety and person-centred healthcare.
  • Digital health, innovation and implementation research, including the development, validation and translation of technological tools, mobile applications and clinical decision-support systems.
  • Clinical epidemiology, cardiovascular prevention and the development of predictive models, biomarkers and diagnostic tools for the early identification of risk factors and chronic diseases.
