Laura Medina Perucha
Laura Medina Perucha (MSc, PhD) is a psychologist and researcher in social and health sciences. Her research focuses on health promotion, public health, and the development and improvement of health services, using qualitative and mixed methodologies. Her research areas include sexual, reproductive, and menstrual health; women's health; and social inequities in health, viewed through the lens of the socio-ecological framework, intersectionality theory, and from a gender and feminist perspective.
Dr. Medina Perucha's teaching experience includes health psychology, qualitative research, and research methodology at the University of Bath (2015-2019). She also developed and co-directed year-long social psychology courses at Villiers Park Educational Trust (2015-2020) for adolescents facing social exclusion. Since 2019, she has been a Master's thesis supervisor in the Master's Degree in Palliative Care for People with Advanced Illnesses at the University of Vic and the Catalan Institute of Oncology. In 2020, she began teaching qualitative research and supervising Master's theses in the Master's Degree in Public Health (Pompeu Fabra University). She has taught qualitative methodology at the University School of Nursing (Hospital de Sant Pau) (2021) and since 2021 has been a collaborating professor of social psychology at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).
Since 2019, she has collaborated with the Jordi Gol i Gurina University Institute for Primary Care Research (IDIAPJGoL) as a social health researcher. She currently coordinates the study on Equity and Menstrual Health in Spain, funded by the European Society of Contraception and Reproductive Health. In addition, she collaborates as a researcher on other projects on the social impact of COVID-19, long COVID, participatory science, the appropriate use of antibiotics in Primary Care, among others.
