Violeta Cazaña Pérez
PhD in Biomedical Sciences, MSc in Biomedicine, and Degree in Biology from the University of La Laguna (ULL).
She has extensive experience in biomedical research, initially focused on the study of the molecular mechanisms underlying disease. Throughout her professional career, she has participated in regional, national, and international research projects affiliated with the University of La Laguna, the University Institute of Biomedical Technologies (ITB), and the Research Unit of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital (HUNSC).
Her research career has been complemented by teaching experience at the European University of the Canary Islands, supervision of students undertaking external internships, and involvement in research, development, and innovation (R&D and Innovation) management activities.
She currently works as a Research Technician at Canary Islands Health Research Institute Foundation (FIISC), affiliated with the Evaluation and Planning Service of the Canary Islands Health Service (SESCS), where she participates in health technology assessment projects and reports, as well as health services research. Since 2022, she has also been a member of the Research Network on Chronicity, Primary Care and Health Promotion (RICAPPS), where she has been involved in the management and coordination of activities and projects within Work Package 12 (WP12).
Her main areas of interest include health technology assessment, primary care research, evidence-based medicine, omics sciences, and their application to personalized medicine. In this field, she is the Principal Investigator of a project focused on capacity building and the development of strategies for the adoption of personalized medicine in primary care in the Canary Islands.
