Yolanda Álvarez Pérez
PhD in Psychology and Master's Degree in General Health Psychology from the University of La Laguna (ULL), and Expert in Health Services and Chronic Diseases Research from the Health Services Research in Chronic Diseases Network (REDISSEC), the University of Alcalá, and the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII).
In the field of research, she is the Principal Investigator of a research project on the development of Massive Open Online Course (MOOCs) focused on Person-Centered Care (PCC) and Digital Health Literacy (DHL) for pregnant women and women with breast cancer, among other health conditions. Additionally, she has experience in various national and international research projects (R&D&I) related to psychology and PCC, as well as European projects on DHL and the co-creation of MOOCs targeted at specific pathologies and health conditions. She has participated in Patient Engagement interventions and provided training to healthcare professionals on PCC and Shared Decision Making (SDM). She has authored publications on mental health as well as patient empowerment and SDM across different health conditions (mental health, knee osteoarthritis, herniated disc, colorectal cancer).
Currently, she works as a research technician at the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria de Canarias (IISC) – Fundación Canaria Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria de Canarias (FIISC), affiliated with the Evaluation Service of the Canarian Health Service (SESCS), and in the Spanish Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment and Services of the National Health System (RedETS).
