Vanesa Ramos García
PhD in Clinical and Health Psychology from the University of La Laguna (ULL), Bachelor's Degree in Psychology (ULL), Master's Specialist in Behavior Therapy from UNED, and postgraduate Expert qualifications in Health Services and Chronic Diseases Research (REDISSEC, University of Alcalá de Henares, and Carlos III Health Institute - ISCIII) and in the Evaluation of Medicines and Health Technologies in the National Health System (UNED).
She is the Principal Investigator of a competitive R&D&I project on Person-Centered Care (PCC) and Shared Decision Making (SDM) in patients with Diabetic Macular Edema. Additionally, she has experience in various national and international competitive projects on PCC and SDM across several chronic conditions, with a special focus on creating Virtual Communities of Practice (VCoP) for empowering patients with ischemic heart disease as well as primary and hospital care healthcare professionals. She has also participated in Patient Engagement interventions and provided training to healthcare professionals on PCC and Shared Decision Making (SDM).
Her doctoral program focused on applying the PCC model in primary care settings through the development and creation of a shared decision-making aid tool (SDM) for patients with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and their healthcare providers, based on the recommendations of the Clinical Practice Guideline for the Management of GAD in Adults (Guía-Salud).
She has published numerous works related to patient empowerment and SDM across various chronic health conditions (musculoskeletal diseases, ischemic heart disease, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, depressive disorder, and GAD).
Currently, she works as a research technician at the Canarian Health Research Institute Foundation (FIISC), affiliated with the Evaluation Service of the Canarian Health Service (SESCS), and is a researcher in the Network of Health Technology Assessment Agencies and Services of the National Health System (RedETS).
