Carlos Alberto Sánchez Piedra
Carlos Alberto Sánchez Piedra holds a PhD in Health Sciences, a degree in Pharmacy, and is a Senior Scientist at the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII). He conducts his research at the Spanish Agency for Health Technology Assessment, where his work focuses on health technology and medicines assessment, health economics, health services research, and evidence generation to support decision-making in healthcare.
He has led and participated in projects funded by national and European programmes and has extensive experience in real-world data studies and economic evaluation. He has contributed to more than 105 scientific publications, including articles in high-impact international journals, scientific and technical advisory reports for national and international organizations such as the Spanish Ministry of Health, the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS), and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), as well as monographs and book chapters. He has an h-index of 32.
He has been a member of the Research Network on Chronicity, Primary Care and Health Promotion (RICAPPS) since 2022, collaborating on initiatives aimed at improving the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of healthcare systems.
