Sara is Associate Professor at the University of La Laguna, where she leads research on social determinants of health, health inequalities and intersectionality. Vice-Director of the Doctoral School and Director of the Centre for
Studies on Inequality and Governance, she is Principal Investigator of the STARS-Health project (Horizon Europe) and leads multiple European-funded initiatives including DETERMINE, GRADIENT, ACTION-FOR-HEALTH and Families And Societies.
Her multidisciplinary training in Social Anthropology, Nursing and Political Sciences reflects a comprehensive approach to public health. An expert in health promotion and health governance, she has collaborated as a consultant with the WHO on health investment initiatives. She combines teaching with academic leadership in specialized master's programmes and coordination of collaborative research initiatives aimed at reducing health inequalities.
