The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) is one of the most widely used cognitive screening tools for the detection of cognitive impairment. However, the accumulated evidence shows considerable variability in its measurement properties across different populations, languages and cultural contexts, making it necessary to evaluate it specifically in each setting. This presentation will outline the line of research carried out at APISAL to address this challenge in the Spanish population, including a systematic review with meta-analysis and meta-regression, the validation of its internal structure, the study of measurement invariance and the development of normative data. Taken together, these studies aim to contribute to a context-appropriate interpretation of the MoCA in clinical practice and research within the Spanish context.
