More about Francesc Ribas

PhD in Biomedicine from the Universitat de Barcelona (2014), with training in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, and in vitro and animal experimental models. My initial career focused on basic research, participating in international projects on epigenetics, metabolism, and pathophysiology, including stays at reference centers such as the Institut Cochin and the Université Paris Descartes (France). I have collaborated on European (DIABAT, METABOSTEM) and national (La Marató de TV3) projects, addressing molecular mechanisms involved in metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.

In recent years, I have oriented my career towards epidemiology and public health, working on the design and implementation of research projects in primary care, with a special interest in cardiovascular prevention and shared decision-making in patients with vascular disease. Currently, I am a researcher at the Institut d’Investigació en Atenció Primària Jordi Gol (IDIAP Jordi Gol), where I coordinate the national network RICAPPS (Red de Investigación en Cronicidad, Atención Primaria y Promoción de la Salud), which integrates 26 research groups from 12 autonomous communities.

Currently, I am finalizing a Master’s Degree in Research Design and Analysis in Health Sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), which reinforces my expertise in advanced methodologies for clinical and epidemiological research. I have participated in more than 10 competitive projects, published as first author or collaborator in more than 15 scientific articles, and presented communications at national and international conferences. My goal is to contribute to the integration of epidemiological knowledge into clinical practice to improve primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Functions

The main function of the Technical Secretariat is to support the management carried out by the coordinator. Its tasks are as follows:

Provide support for the management, organization, and coordination of the network's different work packages.
Schedule and call meetings for the different bodies of the network, draft the minutes, and follow up on the decisions made.
Develop and maintain operational procedures and draft general documents regarding the network's functioning (authorship, project evaluation, agreements with private companies, etc.).
Planning and coordination of the Training Plan. Organization of the network's annual conferences.
Monitoring evaluation indicators for the research and training program, as well as for the different groups.
Prepare annual reports.
Maintenance of the network's Communication Plan. This includes the maintenance of the website and the management application, GIR. Of particular interest to mention:
The affiliation registry of the network members, platform control, the registry of projects by network members (with information on protocols, documentation, researchers, publications, etc., as well as information on the different work packages, activities, calls for applications, and minutes of the various meetings held by the governing bodies)
Facilitating communication between the different groups (dissemination of information via email)
Dissemination of the network's activities and results to specialized and general media outlets.
Support for the coordination of the clinical trial in which all the groups of the network participate
