Presentation of the QUÉDATE project. The aim of this research is to explore ways of helping older people to continue living in their own homes.

We will carry out a multicentre, multi-method study, to be conducted in two large cities (Madrid and Barcelona), two medium-sized cities (Córdoba and Vitoria-Gasteiz), two rural locations with concentrated social and healthcare resources (Alicante and Girona) and two with dispersed resources (Ourense and Salamanca).

The first phase aims to identify existing resources, recommendations and policies for remaining in one’s own home through an exploratory systematic review of the information contained in scientific, technical and popular publications.

At the same time, the project will seek to understand the experiences, needs and proposals of older people, carers, social and healthcare professionals, associations and the various stakeholders involved, through qualitative research involving focus groups and semi-structured interviews.

Finally, the qualitative analysis will be integrated with data from the SHARE population survey, enabling a broader interpretation of the narratives. To ensure a comprehensive and nuanced perspective, it is essential to conduct this study from a territorial and gender-based perspective that recognises these vulnerabilities as particularly limiting factors. Furthermore, it will adopt an intersectional approach to facilitate an integrated response.
