Esperanza Varela MorenoEsperanza Varela Moreno holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Malaga. Recently defended PhD thesis with an Industrial Doctorate (February 2023) on the cost-effectiveness of a web-based psychological intervention programme for depression in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Researcher employed in the Network for Research on Chronicity, Primary Care and Health Promotion (RICAPPS) in the Research and Innovation Unit, Hospital Costa del Sol (Marbella, Malaga). Member of the IBIMA BA14 Group – Translational Research in Cancer and other prevalent chronic diseases. PI: Maximino Redondo Bautista. Throughout her research career, she has collaborated on various research projects on the involvement of psychological variables in chronic diseases in various units of the Malaga Regional University Hospital (UGC of Endocrinology and Nutrition and UGC of Mental Health) and in the Department of Personality, Assessment and Psychological Treatment in the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Malaga. At present, she is involved in and is developing various research projects in the field of oncology at the Research and Innovation Unit of Hospital Costa del Sol.
Description of the line of research in which she has been collaborating since 2011 on web-based intervention programmes to treat depressive and anxious symptoms in patients with chronic diseases.
